Take care of your waste

Taking care of your waste properly is important for the environment. It is also important to avoid pests and bad odors.

Samling av olika typer av avfall

If you are not sure where to dispose of different types of waste, you can ask SHIS staff. They can also help you with information on where to find the nearest recycling station or recycling center.

If the bin is full or if there is a blockage in the bin, you should contact the staff who will make a fault report.

Food waste

Food waste is what is left over after cooking. Put it in a food waste bag and throw it in the recycling room where you live or in a bin intended for food waste.

Do not leave bags on the ground or in the stairwell. This attracts pests and contributes to bad odors!

Sort in the recycling room or at the recycling station

Plastic, paper, glass, packaging, newspapers and metal are all waste that should be sorted.

In some buildings there are recycling rooms where you can dispose of your waste. If there is no recycling room, you must dispose of your waste at a recycling station.

Put the right thing in the right bin/container. The bin/container will tell you where to put which waste.

Bulky waste

Bulky waste is large items such as sofas, tables and televisions. You should take it to a recycling center (ÅVC). Ask the staff where the nearest ÅVC is.

Environmentally hazardous waste

Environmentally hazardous waste is anything that is corrosive, flammable and dangerous to the environment. You should take it to an environmental station or recycling center.

Medicine that you do not need can be handed in at a pharmacy.

E-waste

E-waste includes lamps, fluorescent tubes and anything with a cord or battery. You leave e-waste at an environmental station or recycling center.

Residual waste

Anything that does not belong to one of the waste types above should be disposed of in the property's recycling room or
rubbish bin.
